My journey with home remedies for weight loss has been an ongoing one. On and off since my teenage years I’ve fantasized about dropping 10, 20, 30 pounds, depending on which stage of life I found myself in. And believe me when I say I’ve tried it all. I’ve counted calories and fat grams down to the nth degree. I’ve lived off of nothing but juice for a week. I’ve gone paleo, vegetarian, raw vegan, keto, sugar free, dairy free, low calorie, and low fat. While some of these did help me lose a few pounds and feel better (and some of them definitely didn’t!), it was never the complete picture. I’ve since discovered the “complete picture” for me, and am looking and feeling better than ever. I feel physically, mentally, and emotionally safe- and I hope I can help you too.
I first discovered Jon Gabriel’s work while watching a Food Matters interview. Something about him struck me as different- he didn’t believe in diets, he didn’t believe that willpower had anything to do with losing extra weight, and he had a strong belief in real deep nutrition. And, he’d lost 200 pounds without suffering, without surgery, and without sagging post-weight loss skin.
I’ve always believed that we gain weight because our bodies are starving at a nutritional level. Calorie-wise, we have plenty. But in a world of processed, refined, sprayed, and irradiated junk, our cells are starving for nutrients. When this happens, our body perceives it as famine and famine is a good time to store fat. This is necessary for our basic survival, as the body sees it.
Nutrition aside, our bodies and minds are also suffering from post-modern stress. We have so much to worry about- bills, careers, relationships, money, marriage, education, love, debt, filing our taxes, errands, houses, and more. Many of us live in a constant state of stress and worry- and this tells our body that we are unsafe.
